Sanguisorba officinalis 'Pink Tanna' - 2026

Sanguisorba officinalis ‘Pink Tanna’ is a clump-forming perennial that bears deep pink, bottlebrush-like flower spikes on slender wiry stems from midsummer into early autumn. The flowers have pale pink stamens which give the blooms a soft, textured look floating above a neat mound of finely divided green foliage. It makes a striking yet airy presence in mixed borders, pollinator gardens, or planting schemes where late-season colour and movement are called for.

It prefers full sun or partial shade, in moist but well-drained soil that does not dry out during summer. Low-maintenance once established; removal of faded flower spikes helps maintain appearance, and dividing the clumps every few years can keep vigour. Non-native to the UK, yet hardy and admired for both ornamental and wildlife value.
