Trollius cultorum 'New Moon' - 2026

Tröllius ‘New Moon’ is a handsome, clump-forming perennial that brings elegance and softness to spring borders. It develops deeply divided, glossy dark green foliage that adds texture and good contrast even before flowering begins. In late spring to early summer it produces large, creamy-yellow double, bowl-shaped flowers on strong upright stems, creating a luminous and graceful effect. The double blooms are particularly showy and make it excellent for cutting as well as for ornamental display.

Ecologically, ‘New Moon’ is attractive to pollinators (bees especially) due to its abundant, nectar-bearing blossoms. It prefers soil that stays moist and rich—deep, fertile, heavy or moisture-retentive soil works best—and tolerates full sun to partial shade, though in hotter or exposed sites a bit of shade helps avoid stress. It’s hardy in UK conditions and makes an excellent choice for damp borders, cottage gardens, pond edges, or moist soil areas; cutting back after flowering helps maintain a tidy appearance and encourages healthy regrowth.
