Hosta 'Loyalist' - 2026

Hosta ‘Loyalist’ is a striking perennial that brightens shady spots with its bold variegation. In spring its leaves emerge with creamy-yellow centres bordered by dark green margins, and as summer advances the centres turn pure white, creating dramatic contrast. The leaves are thick with a slightly wavy or corrugated surface, and the tips twist a little, adding interest even without flowers. This cultivar forms a substantial, rounded mound, ideal for borders, woodland garden edges or mixed shade planting.

In midsummer it bears scapes of pale lavender, bell-shaped flowers that rise above the foliage, attracting pollinators. Loyalist prefers moist, rich, well-drained soil and thrives in partial to full shade. Though non-native, it is hardy and performs reliably in zones with cool summers. With good conditions, it grows steadily to its mature size, bringing strong visual impact and brightening denser, darker corners of the garden.
