Iris germanica 'Bullwinkle' - 2026

Iris germanica ‘Bullwinkle’ is a border bearded iris valued for its warm, eye-catching multicoloured blooms. The standards are bright yellow with a burgundy midrib, the style arms are yellow washed with burgundy, and the falls have a lighter yellow background heavily marked with burgundy plicata patterning. A golden-orange beard adds a final touch of warmth. The flowers have a slightly ruffled texture and open in mid-season, creating a vibrant display in late May to early June.

This iris grows in upright tufts of sword-shaped, glaucous green foliage which remain attractive beyond flowering. It performs best in full sun with well-drained soil, even tolerating somewhat dry or chalky conditions. It is hardy and suitable for exposed gardens thanks to its moderate height and strong habit.
