Monarda 'Mohawk' - 2026

Monarda 'Mohawk' is a bold and colourful perennial that adds a striking show to the garden. It produces whorls of bright purple-pink tubular flowers, each with decorative purple bracts and a dark centre, from mid summer into early autumn. The lance-shaped, aromatic foliage is mid-green, forming a lush clump that complements the vivid flowers. It has a tall, upright habit and despite its size retains good form even in mixed borders.

Ecologically, 'Mohawk' is highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinators, offering both nectar and structure. The fragrant leaves can also be lightly crushed for aroma and add interest to garden paths. It prefers full sun to partial shade, in moist but well-drained soil. Though it may take a season or two to fully mature, in UK gardens it grows reliably, especially when given space and good soil.
