Mukdenia rossii - 2026

Mukdenia rossii, commonly known as red-leaved mukdenia or 'Crimson Fans', is a deciduous perennial native to the woodlands of China and Korea. This low-growing plant forms a bushy clump of glossy, fan-shaped leaves that emerge a deep coppery-bronze in spring, transitioning to medium to dark green in summer. By late summer, the foliage develops rich red tints, adding vibrant colour to shaded garden areas. In spring, it produces sprays of small, bell-shaped white flowers that add a delicate touch to its overall appearance.
