Nepeta faassenii 'Walker's Low' - 2026

Nepeta faassenii ‘Walker’s Low’ is a beloved perennial catmint, known for its aromatic silvery-grey foliage and long season of soft blue-mauve flowers. In early summer the flower spikes emerge, carried above a dense mound of textured leaves, releasing a gentle scent when touched. As the flowering continues through to autumn (if dead-headed after the first flush), it becomes a magnet for bees and butterflies. The form is elegant; the stems are somewhat arching, giving a soft, hazy effect in the border.

This plant prefers a sunny or partly shaded position, and well-drained soil. Once established it is fairly drought tolerant and low maintenance. Cutting back after flowering helps to keep the shape compact and encourages further blooming. It works well in sunny borders, gravel gardens, wildlife areas or used to soften edges. It is fully hardy in the UK and provides both visual interest and ecological benefits.
