Aconitum fischeri - 2026

Aconitum fischeri is an elegant perennial valued for its late-season display of deep violet-blue, hooded flowers that rise on tall, sturdy spikes. Flowering from late summer into early autumn, it brings dramatic vertical structure and bold colour at a time when many other plants are waning. The finely divided, dark green foliage provides a handsome backdrop to the flowers, ensuring year-round appeal in mixed or naturalistic borders. This species is especially effective planted in groups, where its striking colour and form can create a strong focal point.

Thriving in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, Aconitum fischeri prefers partial shade but will tolerate full sun in cooler regions. Hardy and long-lived, it requires little maintenance once settled and is well-suited for woodland edges or damp garden borders. The late-season flowers are attractive to pollinators, particularly bees, adding to its ecological value. As with all aconitums, caution is advised as all parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested.
