Selected number of strands of Bacopa Monniera

is a very popular aquatic plant among the aquarium fish keepers. It is also known as Moneywort, Water hyssop, Coastal Water hyssop, Brahmi, Bacopa, Thyme-leafed gratiola, Herb of grace, Babies tear, Herpestis monniera, Indian pennywort etc. It is quite widespread throughout India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, China, Pakistan, Taiwan, Australia, Europe, Africa, Vietnam, North and South America. In the wild, it occurs along the banks of lakes, rivers, pools, along streams, ditches and rice fields. It can also grow in slightly brackish conditions. It grows immersed with a creeping habit and submersed with upright stems. Its immersed form develops beautiful light pink flowers in the leaf axils.

The plant grows well in the shadow of other plants. Very suitable as a bit higher carpet - or bushy plant in the middle or front of the aquarium. The plant becomes more vertical growing and less compact without CO2 additive and decreased light conditions.

Ceramic rings are provided, but are removed to avoid damage in the post. Normally delivered within 3 - 5 days but on occasion this maybe delayed which is why this was extended for delivery.

This plant, in lower levels of light is a lovely foreground plant, as it tends to grow around 5 - 10 cm tall. If in high intense light, it can grow up to 30 cm tall. Medium CO2 requirements.

Plants are incubated in a solution of 0.01% of the insecticide Buprafezin for one hour (Please do not just drop these in a shrimp tank or with any other crustacean. To use these within a tank please wash in water with baking soda under light. These are treated to remove the insecticide but there are cases where this has not been fully removed causing casualties in crustacean.
