The spikes are excellent for cutting, and bees visit the flowers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGrow in full sun in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, sheltered from strong winds, and stake early in the season. It is hardy in most of the UK but can be short-lived. Protect emerging shoots from slugs and snails, remove spent spikes, and cut back to ground level in autumn.
