Upright spikes carry semi-double, pale sky-blue flowers, each with a contrasting white central bee. At around 60-80cm tall it suits the middle of a sunny cottage border, mixed perennial planting and cutting gardens, where the soft blue pairs well with roses.

Grow in full sun in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, sheltered from strong wind; RHS hardiness is H5. Protect young shoots from slugs in spring and give light support in exposed sites. Cut flowered spikes back after the first flush and feed to encourage a second, smaller display later in the season. The flowers attract bees. All parts are harmful if eaten, so wear gloves when handling.
