Tall, one-sided spikes of creamy-white, tubular bells rise from rosettes of soft, hairy leaves and can exceed 1.5 metres in good conditions. It is a classic choice for woodland gardens, shady borders and cottage planting, where the pale flowers glow in dappled light.

Grow in partial shade or sun in moist but well-drained soil; it tolerates most soils and is very hardy (RHS H7). It is a biennial, forming a rosette in its first year and flowering in its second, usually dying after setting seed. Let some seed fall to keep a colony going, away from purple foxgloves if you want white seedlings. Bumblebees love the flowers. All parts are toxic if eaten, so wear gloves when handling.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0861/1590/9979/files/Shutterstock_419824081_de6f1890-1b3e-4632-b5c6-881335916c7e.jpg?v=1758713969
