It flowers from spring into early summer. Plant it at the front of a sunny border, in gravel or in containers near paths and doors where the scent can be enjoyed.

Grow in full sun or light shade in fertile, well-drained soil; wallflowers dislike wet, heavy ground. Hardy in most UK gardens. Deadhead faded flowers to prolong the display and give a light trim after the main flush to keep plants compact. Plants of this type are short-lived and are often treated as biennials, so expect to replace them after one or two seasons. The flowers attract bees and other early pollinators.
