Hosta 'Lucky Mouse' - 2026

Hosta ‘Lucky Mouse’ is a delightful miniature perennial prized for its compact size and attractive variegation. The foliage consists of thick, rounded “mouse-ear” leaves coloured blue-green with wide, wavy creamy-yellow edges that gradually fade toward creamy-white as the season progresses. This creates a soft, luminous contrast that lights up shady spots. The plant forms a small mound, making it excellent for rock gardens, container displays, or tight spaces where vivid foliage is needed without bulk.

In mid-summer, ‘Lucky Mouse’ produces short scapes of lavender-purple, bell- or funnel-shaped flowers that rise just above the foliage. This hosta thrives in moist, well-drained, organically rich soil and prefers partial to full shade, especially avoiding hot afternoon sun which can scorch its edges. It is relatively low-maintenance, with a slow growth habit, and its small stature, bold leaf edging, and charming flowers make it a valuable addition to collections or mixed shade beds.
