Hosta 'Mango Tango' - 2026

Hosta ‘Mango Tango’ is a striking medium-sized perennial valued for its dramatic variegated foliage and texture. The leaves are broadly rounded with a glossy green margin and a creamy-yellow centre stripe that is narrow and irregular, giving a “reverse” effect to patterns seen on cultivars like ‘Stitch in Time’. As the season advances, the leaves develop a puckered or lightly corrugated surface, adding depth and a stitched appearance that draws the eye in shady garden beds.

In summer, ‘Mango Tango’ produces lavender-purple bell-shaped flowers on upright scapes rising above the foliage, attracting bees and butterflies. It thrives in moist, rich, well-drained soil and prefers partial shade to full shade. Though non-native, it is hardy in the UK and performs reliably with consistent moisture and shelter from harsh midday sun. Its medium growth rate and bold foliage make it excellent for mixed borders, containers, or as a focal plant in shaded spots.
