Is 'Baby Blue' a pond plant?
No. It is not for standing water. The RHS recommends moist but well-drained soil and warns that the rhizome can rot if buried too deep. Grow it in damp soil at the edge of a bog garden, beside a pond or in a rockery.
How to plant and care for it
Plant the rhizome at soil level in acid to neutral soil. Watch for slugs, snails and thrips.
Is it poisonous?
Yes. The RHS says it is potentially harmful and can cause severe discomfort if eaten, so wear gloves when handling it and keep pets away from it.
