'Maikönigin') is an early-flowering form of the ox-eye daisy, a clump-forming perennial with dark green, toothed leaves. From late spring into midsummer, slender stems carry single white daisies with bright yellow centres, ahead of most Shasta daisies. It suits wildflower-style and meadow planting, cottage gardens and informal borders, and the flowers are good for cutting.

Grow in full sun in moist but well-drained or dry soil; it tolerates chalk, clay, loam and sand and is very hardy (RHS H7). Deadhead regularly to limit self-seeding and to encourage a second flush in early autumn, then cut back once flowering ends. Divide congested clumps every few years. It is listed by the RHS as a plant for pollinators, attracting bees, hoverflies and butterflies.
