papaver-orientale-prinzessin-victoria-louise-9cm-potted
Papaver orientale 'Prinzessin Victoria Louise'

Papaver orientale 'Prinzessin Victoria Louise' is a classic oriental poppy with huge, single, bowl-shaped flowers of soft salmon-pink, each petal marked with a deep purple blotch at the base. The papery blooms rise on tall, bristly stems above coarse, hairy leaves in late spring and early summer. It makes a romantic focal point in cottage gardens and sunny mixed borders.

Plant in full sun in deep, well-drained soil; oriental poppies are very hardy and dislike winter wet. The foliage dies down after flowering, leaving a gap, so plant late-summer perennials nearby to fill it; fresh leaves return in autumn. Cut spent stems to the base. Stems can flop in rich soil, so a little support helps. Plants resent disturbance once established.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0861/1590/9979/files/Papaver-Prinzessin-Victoria-Louise-001.jpg?v=1793966404
