Is delta arrowhead invasive?

It is not on any GB banned or restricted plant list, but it is a serious weed in Australia and New Zealand, where it forms dense stands in shallow waterways. It spreads by seed, rhizomes, tubers and fragments. Keep it to garden ponds, never plant it in or near natural water, and do not compost or dump unwanted plants.

Where to plant it

  • Shallow water at the edge of a garden pond
  • In a solid basket to stop it spreading
  • Ponds well away from streams and ditches

How to plant and care for it

Plant in a basket in shallow water. Remove the seed heads before they ripen to stop it spreading.

Which size should I buy?

Packs of 3 come in 7 cm, 9 cm, 1 litre and 3 litre bare-root sizes and cost less per plant. The 2x Pot & Compost option is two plants supplied with pots and compost.
