Trollius 'Orange Crest' - 2026

Trollius × cultorum ‘Orange Crest’ is a striking clump-forming perennial that brings warm orange tones to moist borders or pond-edges. It forms a dense base of deeply divided, glossy green leaves that persist well into the growing season. In late spring to early summer it bears large bowl- or globe-shaped flowers in a soft orange shade with a darker orange centre; the contrast draws the eye and offers a rich focal point in garden plantings.

Ecologically, ‘Orange Crest’ is valued by pollinators, especially bees, which visit the nectar-rich flowers. It thrives in moist, fertile soil, and prefers full sun to partial shade. If soil remains too dry or air too hot, the blooms may suffer, so cool, moist conditions are beneficial. It is reasonably hardy in UK gardens, and dividing older clumps or cutting back after flowering helps maintain vigour and neat form. Its bold colour and structure make it excellent in damp perennial beds, water margins or as a cut flower specimen.
