Key Points
What you will receive:
Cryptocoryne parva, commonly known as "Dwarf Crypt," is a small and popular aquatic plant species in the aquarium hobby. Here are its key characteristics:
- Type: Cryptocoryne parva belongs to the Cryptocoryne genus, which includes various species of aquatic plants.
- Size: It is one of the smallest Cryptocoryne species available in the hobby, with individual leaves reaching a length of about 2.5 to 5 centimeters.
- Appearance: The plant features narrow, lance-shaped leaves that are typically bright green in color. It forms dense, low-growing rosettes that create a carpeting effect in the aquarium.
- Growth Form: Cryptocoryne parva grows in a compact, bushy manner and is well-suited for creating foreground or midground coverage.
- Attachment: It is typically planted directly into the substrate, and it will send out runners to spread and form a carpet. It can also be attached to hardscape elements like rocks or driftwood.
- Lighting: While it can tolerate lower light levels, providing moderate to high light will promote more compact and lush growth.
- CO2 and Fertilization: Although it can grow without added CO2 and fertilizers, providing them will result in more vigorous growth and vibrant coloration.
- Maintenance: Regular trimming and thinning may be necessary to maintain the desired carpeting effect. Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves.
- Propagation: Cryptocoryne parva propagates by sending out runners, which will develop new plantlets. These can be separated and replanted to expand the carpet.
- Habitat: It is native to Sri Lanka, where it is found in wetlands and along the edges of slow-moving streams.

Recycled Growing Media
At Lincs Plants, we’re proud to use a recycled, peat free growing mix that’s made right here in Lincolnshire. It’s made from coir with around 20% silt loam added in.
The coir keeps the mix light and free draining, while the silt loam adds structure and helps hold moisture and nutrients. By recycling used media and using locally sourced materials, we cut down on waste and reduce the need for imported peat based composts.
This home grown mix is part of our commitment to sustainable growing and supporting local production wherever possible.
At Lincs Plants, we operate from two main locations. When you place an order, we prepare and pack plants across both sites depending on what you’ve ordered.
