Veronica beccabunga, known as brooklime, is a low, creeping UK native with fleshy, rounded leaves and small, bright blue flowers from May to September. Its stems root as they spread, which makes it good for hiding pond liner edges.

Is brooklime good for wildlife?
Yes. It is on the RHS Plants for Pollinators list, and the Wildlife Trusts note it gives cover to tadpoles and sticklebacks.
Does brooklime spread?
Yes. The creeping stems root as they go and can spread 1.5 m or more. Pull back or trim stems that go further than you want.
How to plant and care for it
Plant in spring in permanently wet soil or up to 10 cm of water. It stays green through winter. Trim in spring to keep it compact.
Which size should I buy?
Bare-root plants (7 cm, 9 cm, 1 litre and 3 litre) arrive without a pot or compost and are the most economical way to plant a group. Potted plants (9 cm, 1 litre and 3 litre) arrive growing in our peat-free compost and give a faster display. Packs of 3 cost less per plant. The 2x Pot & Compost option is two plants supplied with pots and compost.
