Key Points
Delicious Fruit: Loganberries produce large, dark red, succulent fruits with a sharp taste. While they might not be as ideal for fresh eating as some other berries due to their tartness, they are excellent for making jams, jellies, pies, sauces, and other culinary uses. Their rich flavor can add depth to various recipes and preserves.
Low Maintenance: Loganberries are relatively easy to grow and maintain. They are fast-growing and generally hardy, thriving in various soil types and requiring minimal care once established. As long as they receive full sun and adequate moisture, they can flourish without much intervention.
Thornless Variety: Some people prefer thornless varieties of berries for ease of harvest. Loganberries, being thornless, make picking the fruit much more convenient and less likely to cause scratches or injuries.
Historical and Unique Appeal: With its origin traced back to Judge Logan's garden in California in 1880, the loganberry has a historical significance and might appeal to gardeners interested in heritage or unique varieties of fruits.
Extended Harvest Period: Loganberries typically ripen from mid-July to August, providing a relatively extended period for harvesting compared to some other berry varieties. This prolonged harvest season can be advantageous for those who enjoy preserving or using fresh fruit in their cooking throughout the summer.
Adaptability: Loganberries are adaptable to various soil types and climates. While they require more heat and sunlight compared to blackberries, they are generally considered hardy and can withstand different environmental conditions.
In summary, someone might want to plant loganberries in their garden for their delicious fruit suitable for culinary uses, their low maintenance requirements, thornless variety, historical significance, extended harvest period, and adaptability to different conditions.

Recycled Growing Media
At Lincs Plants, we’re proud to use a recycled, peat free growing mix that’s made right here in Lincolnshire. It’s made from coir with around 20% silt loam added in.
The coir keeps the mix light and free draining, while the silt loam adds structure and helps hold moisture and nutrients. By recycling used media and using locally sourced materials, we cut down on waste and reduce the need for imported peat based composts.
This home grown mix is part of our commitment to sustainable growing and supporting local production wherever possible.
At Lincs Plants, we operate from two main locations. When you place an order, we prepare and pack plants across both sites depending on what you’ve ordered.

During our peak periods, we can process up to 3,000 orders a day across multiple departments. Each department either supports a main packing team or packs orders directly.
We have five collections a day, so orders can leave throughout the day as soon as they’re ready.
