A dramatic hardy waterlily famed for its very dark, almost black-red flowers. The blooms are cup-shaped, 10–15 cm across, with many pointed petals and a golden-yellow center that enhances the contrast. Leaves are dark green, sometimes flushed with purple when young, with a spread of about 90–120 cm. Thrives in 30–60 cm of water and full sun, flowering prolifically from June to September. Ideal for medium ponds, it provides a striking, regal focal point.
