Nymphaea Alba - 2026

Nymphaea alba (European White Waterlily) is the only white waterlily native to the UK and much of Europe. It produces large, fragrant, pure white flowers with golden-yellow centers, typically 10–20 cm across. The round green leaves float on the water surface, often with a reddish tint when young, and can reach 20–30 cm in diameter. Plants spread widely—up to 150 cm or more—making them most suitable for larger ponds and lakes.

It prefers full sun, water depths of 60–150 cm, and still or slow-moving water. Flowering occurs from June to September. Hardy and long-lived, Nymphaea alba provides excellent habitat for pond wildlife, offering shelter for aquatic creatures and landing platforms for pollinators.
