Helleborus orientalis 'Golden Discovery' - 2026

Helleborus orientalis ‘Golden Discovery’ is a clump-forming perennial that produces vivid yellow, bowl-shaped flowers in early spring, often above glossy evergreen foliage. The blooms appear from February to April, adding bright early colour to borders, shaded beds or woodland gardens. The dark green leathery leaves provide structure even outside flowering season, making the plant useful for winter and early spring interest.

This cultivar prefers part shade with moist, well-drained humus-rich soil. It is hardy once established and benefits from protection from harsh winter winds. Deadheading and trimming of old leaves before flowering helps improve the display and reduce disease. Occasionally dividing every few years helps maintain vigour.
