A bold hardy waterlily with large, deep ruby-red blooms 15–20 cm across, among the darkest reds in hardy varieties. Flowers are cup-shaped, slightly fragrant, and produced abundantly from June to September. Leaves are green with some mottling when young, up to 25–30 cm wide, with a spread of 1.2–1.5 m. Thrives in 40–100 cm of water and full sun, making it a striking centerpiece for medium to large ponds.
