Yes. In the wild it grows on stream banks, with its roots in wet soil. In colder UK winters it does better where the crown is not sitting in waterlogged soil.

Is it hardy?

The RHS rates it H4, hardy through an average UK winter. Give it a sheltered, sunny spot and a winter mulch in colder areas.

How to plant and care for it

Plant in spring in full sun. Deadhead to prolong flowering. It can spread into the wild, so do not dump unwanted plants.
