Is rain lily a pond plant?

Only in summer. It can grow in very shallow water or wet soil at a sunny pond edge in the growing season, but the RHS advises protecting the bulbs from winter wet. Lift pots out of the water in autumn, or grow it in a border or pot that drains well in winter.

Is rain lily hardy in the UK?

The RHS rates it H3: reliable outdoors only in mild and coastal areas. Elsewhere, mulch the bulbs or keep pots somewhere frost-free over winter.

Is it poisonous?

Yes. The bulbs and leaves are toxic if eaten, so wear gloves and keep pets away from it.

Which size should I buy?
